Strategy

Hi guys. Do the ship/unit Strategies work? I’m trying to create a strategy for fighters so they will not launch during ship combat. I want them to be around for ground combat. Here is the situation. My opponet attacks my planet with say 4 Frigates. Each carrying 6 troops and 6 fighters. I have designed a fighter strategy to attack ships with troops, that seems to work. A Frigate still may make through to drop its troops though. I have symded fighters against his troops as much as a 4-1 in his favor. Fighters win hands down. What I’m trying to do is stop some fighters from launching so they can take on his troops. I gave my fighters a primary target of troops and changed True to False in the Stagy menu. But my fighters still launch in ship combat and die. Is there a way to stop them from launching so they will defend in ground combat? Thanks.

Looking for 7 more players relatively new to the multiplayer SE V world to join When Newbies Attack on PBW.

I'm new to hosting and relatively new to playing multiplayer SE V, and got tired of waiting for a new game to start.

Game is SE V 1.71 + 1.14a balance mod hosted on PBW (http://seiv.pbw.cc).

The latest from the beta:

Version 1.73:
1. Fixed - The Resupply At Nearest order was only sending a ship to the nearest location which currently
had both supply and ordnance available. It will now first pick a site with supply and ordnance
available, if that fails it will pick a site with supply available, and failing that it will
pick the nearest site that generates supply.
2. Changed - The restriction that fighters can only be launched once per turn has been removed.
3. Fixed - Units recovered from space retain their last movement amount for the turn. If they are relaunched

Game Performance with sytem view with big fleets

I was wondering, is everyone having that little trouble with the system view taking a long while to load up a system with more than 40 ships inside.. and it does that every single time the system have to be seen? Its kind of frustrating, the bigger the fleet, the longer the load time.... it makes movement phase take forever if there are many ships moving around..

Its Time To Say Good Bye

The amount of people playing SE IV has dropped off dramatically over the last two years to the point that the game is for all intents and purposes, dead. It has been milked for every last cent that it can produce and unless Aaron is willing to revisit the game and fix some of the glaring remaining bugs, so thing that he is not likely going to do, then its a safe bet to say that SE IV is past its prime and now on its last days if not already dead.

So why not get Aaron to release the source code for SE IV and let the modding community have at it? I mean the games earning potential is all but extinct at this point so why not toss the fans a much needed meaty bone and give up the source code so that they can "fix" the remaining issues and perhaps even expand the game some?
