Freighter Use

Submitted by walterkellar on Thu, 2007-01-04 11:09. Space Empires V FAQs

How do freighters work?

‹ Can't create a warp point in 1.20 with BM1.01 If I try to enter a square with a ship from a different race, does that mean I attack them? ›

Freighters (obviously) are

Freighters (obviously) are use to transport equipment and drop them off at location.

Example of use: Planet X with 1 freighter. Planet X builds 10 mines. Select the planet and in the orders panel there is a picture of a box with a orange and green arrow one pointing up and one down. Use that and it brings up a cargo transfer screen that has 2 columns. Make sure the freighter and the planet are in opposing columns. Make sure the freighter is selected and then click on the mines sitting under Planet X. (the mins should move from the planet to the freighter)

Now move said freighter with the 10 mines to the nearest warp point. Using the command area, there is a drop off/recover command and a menu will pop up that looks a lot like the cargo transfer window. Dump the Mines into the empty space.

Voila you now know how to use a freighter to mine a warp point ^^

You can use freighters for other things too such as moving populations, picking up knewly built fighters and drones and sending them to carriers etc etc

hope that helps

mine sweepers

In the balance Mod freighter hulls make good cheap mine clearance ships and you need them as the AI's favourite defence is mines (never needed to use them in stock, as a frigate or a destroyer was more than adequate) They also make good assault ships and can in stock at least take planets un aided if you arm them up a bit

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
