Balance Mod Question

Submitted by Harmonious Hegemony on Wed, 2007-09-19 18:31. Space Empires V General

I just attacked an O2 world colony of an H2 breather with whom I had a treaty that stipulated there would be migration from his empire to mine only. When I looked at the races on this planet during tactical combat, however, I saw that it was populated by my race (human) exclusively. How could that be? Being an O2 planet, my race is the logical choice in order to remove a dome, but how did they get there when the treaty specifically says there is no migration in that direction?

Did you have a migration treaty with another player?

All of the treaties I have that specifically mention migration are one way only (them to me). I do have one non-intercourse treaty that does not specify migration. Could that be it? Will your population migrate even if the treaty does not specify so? Will theirs? I can't find them on any of my planets that are breathable for them.

Did any empire capture one of your planets with units? If any empire does this, your population will begin spreading amongst theirs, but slowly, since there is only a small population available to that empire.

I don't think your population could spread past that empire, however.

When I got my first Long Range Scanner and scanned an Eeeeeeee (how many e's are the in the Eee... anyway) colony ship in my home system, it was full of MY population ONLY. I think they kidnapped them when they resupplied.

Seriously, very early in the game I had a few planets go rogue (I hadn't kept up my intelligence spending). As like "Harmonious Hegemony", all my treaties are one way migration to MY empire, this is the only genuine way it could have gotten them if they migrated when rogue (none went rogue to Eeee). I must do a comprehensive check of the Eee worlds to see if any have enough of my population to make sense of this.

I haven't had any planets go rogue either. The strange thing is that there were only humans on the planet and I didn't think that the ai was smart enough to evacuate his own population once immigrants started to show up in order to remove the dome.

The AI in the Balance Mod does manage multiple populations quite readily. It will cruelly but effectively jettison non-breathers on a planet where there is a mix of breathers and non-breathers.

It seems more likely that the migration element is not functioning properly.

OK, I guess that's not the most important thing to fix at this point. Out of curiosity, is anything being done to cause morale to be effected when one spaces entire populations? Its sooooo tempting to do as things are.
