Hello

This is a thread summarizing what happened in http://www.spaceempires5.com/en-US/node/4334 and mainly for new players wanting to install unnammed mod with latest patch.

If anyone thinks of better location to sticky this thread or to add a reference to it from the unnammed AI wiki link; please help us.

What is unnammed AI mod?

Unnamed's Mod attempts to make the stock version of Space Empires more challenging with an upgraded AI. At first release it will borrow heavily from both Fallen Haven's IRM and Captain Kwok's Balanced AI scripts. Using this as a starting point, the mod will attempt to create a decent computer player. Once this has been achieved, the goal is to expand out and create custom races with unique personalities and strategies.

How to install unnammed mod in SEV 1.58?
Steps to install upgraded AI scripts in unnammed mod.

1- install SEV
2- Install patch 1.58 & make sure new game creation works
3- download Unnammed AI from the wiki link ( http://wiki.spaceempires.net/index.php/Unnamed%27s_Stock_AI_mod ) or directly http://home.comcast.net/~gregmcchesney/Unnameds_Upgraded_AI_v105.zip
4- install unnammed AI 1.05 mod in the "SE5\gametypes" folder
5- download the corrected unnammed AI 1.58 from http://www.mediafire.com/?ahvyuddz9nm and save it in the "\SE5\GameTypes\Unnamed's Upgraded AI" folder
6- extract the file with over-writing everything
7- Start SE5 and everything should work. Try it first in new game creation. In a current game the easiest way to know if the AI still works is by giving it a treaty offer and if they respond then everything works.

Thanks to everyone who contributes to SE5 by moding it. The game would be dead without it.
But I have a question on this updated unnammed AI. I've looked into the sources, and in comments it is mentioned that version is 1.00 Are you sure that this sources are latest?

yes I am sure this is the latest version 1.05. I also re-edited it so the downloa link is prensent so no guessing on which file to download.

The game is not dead without mods. its just not challenging single player in stock. play it multiplayer. there's a huge difference between DEAD and not challenging. stupid whiney babies. stop complaining and contribute something.

Getting back to the topic of the thread... pkoko am I correct that you aren't the creator of unnamed mod?

Is this an upgrade to make unnamed work with 1.58, and that there isn't any new stuff?

What happened to unnamed?

Oh, and by the way, I'm not being critical. I think it's great for people to pick up projects that get dropped by others.

I am using this mod installation (as in the OP method) in a new 1.58 game at the moment and so far it is working fine.

I am curious about Rilo67's questions as well.

Cerberus, there is no need to insult people just because you disagree with them.

I am not the creator of this AI. I just updated the scripts so they work in 1.58. And although I know a little of PC programming, I am not good enough to do any AI work. Most of programming experience is in databases and computational software. I know nothing about AI design or methods.

I picked up updating this to first allow me to finish one game I had running. Then after I finished it; I decided to put this out to help those who play with unnammed AI. I am just trying to be helpful to fellow SEV gamers. I hope I have been helpful.

Anyone knows what happened to unnammed?? I am curious as well.

maybe unnammed won't mind if you take his scripts and alter them a bit Sticking out tongue

I am sorry to say I noticed an AI built an intelligence center in a no-intel game in 1.58 using U3AI.

I also reported it in this thread. Game save available.
