Stream Read Error. |
I keep receiving a message saying "Stream Read Error", the game screen minimizes and then crashes. I've no idea why it does this, it does it on the same exact turn each time i reload it, i think it has something to do with the system screens. At first i had a few ships auto-move, but these caused the game to crash, so i went back a few turns and manually moved my ships so when it came to this turn again it went straight to the news feed. I close that and the game crashes again with the error message.
Anyone know why it does this?
Edit: I've sort of tracked down the problem, i'm unable to look at many of the systems in the game, why i don't know. The previous turns i was able to look at them, i even have planets in one of the systems, but now i'm unable click on them without the game crashing.

I think it's most likely caused by the bmamapl.bmp in my Borg shipset.
download this one and use it to replace the original one.

Yea I patched this up and is there anyway to fix my saved game that crashes now or am I stuck to restarting all over again with this shipset?

Phunky Phantom is right the new .bmp is givin me the error too, can fix by changing back to the original one.
Still think it's a .bmp in the borg set cause I had this error come up only one time in the game I played to see how the shipset looked.
I thought it was a corrupt save game or turn cause i loaded up a earlier turn and all
went well, the error never happen again.
This only happen the one time in the game with the borg, hasn't in any other game I've
played. When I read the Captain's reply about it being a bad .bmp file I remembered that
I had to change the bmamapl.bmp to another for the carrier in order for it to show up
in the ship viewer. This .bmp is still used by the Baseship that did not had this problem.
I seem to remember the error came up when the Baseship warped, maybe I am wrong but better
to be safe. I'll see what can be done with another .bmp

Ok, this new .bmp isn't giving me any problems and hope it fixes the Stream Read Error if indeed it was the cause

I would still get the error when I clicked system to system
enough times, so I've reworked all the .bmp files. Not having any
troubles with the shipset now. Here is the new set:

It's caused by a graphics error. One of the .bmp files has a weird file header that SE5 doesn't like. I'm assuming you're using some version of FQM?
