DevnullMod

At long last, DevnullMod 1.0 for Space Empires V is done! Well, done enough to do an initial release, anyway..

Background:
===========
This mod is intended to make a somewhat faster-paced, though still epic-scale game of Space Empires V while addressing some of the balance issues that I have found in the weapons, facilities, and the tech tree. Through the use of the principles of miniaturization (i.e. the higher the tech level, the smaller the component/facility) and durability (the higher the tech level, the stronger the component/facility), and balancing, this mod attempts to introduce a new feel to the game and give a somewhat faster pace to the timing. Research starts out a little slower, but has a much higher potential to build up, usage of minerals, organics, and radioactives is somewhat reduced in many areas and much more balanced in general (i.e. most things don't just use minerals any more, but a more balanced mix of resources).

This mod changes several core aspects of gameplay, and signifigantly improves on the AI.

Amung these changes:

Rebalanced combat.

Crystallurgy and Organic Manipulation traits utilizing different resources.

Non-bulletproof Intel Defense.

Rebalanced components with a completely different engine system.

New method of calculating anger.

Each empire has more individual likes and dislikes.

SE4 Mod Launcher

This utility is designed to launch user created data modifications for Space Empires IV and help keep them nice and neat for the user.
It saves the user from having to edit the path.txt each time they want to play a user-created mod for Space Empires IV. The program was included in later releases of Space Empires IV, but this download is a more recent version of the program.

Space Empire V LITE Mod

I have been reading the various posts about the games complication and cult like appeal. As many of you know this game can be very overwhelming to the new player and especially to someone with little 4X experience.

What I've done here is take CaptainKwok's BalanceMod and strip it down to what I would call the bare essentials. This version still maintains all the galactic feel, but with what I would call less complication. All the key ingredients of strategy and play are still here, but on a smaller scale.

I think this version will have some nice unforeseen advantages. I think the AI will do better with less to work with. Also, the games should play fast and efficiently.

Currently at beta stage but with a fair bit of functionality.

The idea was to replicate the old SE4 Mod Launcher, but replacing the dialog with a system tray icon and popup menu. Cope with multiple installations in many areas, then integrate SE5 functionality once SE4 is covered. Now it covers the whole series!
